Help us choose songs for our acoustic set in Berlin.

Posted in News on July 29, 2012 by mezzoforteband

For our 3 shows at the A-Trane, Berlin (August 17.-19.), we want to adjust to the intimate settings of a small Jazz club by playing a more “acoustic” set. This offers a great opportunity to re-visit some songs which have been side lined for a while.
We would like to ask YOU to help us select songs to play. The song which gets the most votes will be filmed and recorded and posted on our facebook site. Please click this link to participate. You can select songs from the list or, if your preferred song is not on the list, you can add songs and then vote for them.

New album, titled ISLANDS, to be released June 2012

Posted in News with tags , , , , on March 10, 2012 by mezzoforteband

A new Mezzoforte album, titled ISLANDS was mixed last week and is scheduled to be released in June 2012.
The album, which contains 9 original compositions by members of the band, was mostly recorded at different locations over a period of  several months in 2011, with the exception of one song, which was recorded in 2008.

The title, ISLANDS, reflects the fact that recording took place in Iceland, the Faroe Islands, the Westman Islands and Berlin (which used to be a sort of island inside the GDR).
Mixing was done by Johann Asmundsson in Studio Paradis, Reykjavik.

This, the band’s 14th studio album, is the first to feature the current 6 piece version of the touring band; Asmundsson, Briem, Gunnarsson, Gudjonsson, Studnitzky and Mueller.

The release will be followed by extensive touring in the summer and fall of 2012 and into 2013.

Work on the new album is moving along nicely. It started with some sessions in Reykjavik in August, laying down basic tracks and ideas for consideration. Work continued in the beautiful Bloch Studio in the Faroe Islands last week. The next sessions will take place in Berlin’s famous Hansa Studios in November.

Release is scheduled for spring 2012.
